Hi, this is Becky. I know for a lot of potential buyers of vintage jewelry, there is a problem wearing clip on earrings because they are just not as comfortable as our pierced ones. This is an issue for me too. I have found some that I can wear comfortably for a couple hours to church or out to dinner but longer than that I find myself pulling them off because my earlobes are aching.
It never has been a big problem because I fall in the vintage jewelry category of "collector." A lot of vintage earrings I have bought over the years were purchased knowing that I would rarely wear them. I just enjoy looking at them and the thrill of the treasure hunt when I have found something that matches another piece I purchased in the past. For many buyers, however, this is not the case. They want to wear them and get nice compliments when they are noticed by others.
Recently I found a Youtube Video put out by a young woman called "Vintage Bombshell" who shows a simple way to convert clip on earrings to pierced. After watching it I have one of those moments, "Why didn't I think of that?" Then I thought, "I can do that." So I am going to work in the next month to convert some of my pieces to pierced.
